Jacob Shipton
Dr. Jacob Shipton joined Eyecare Associates of Nampa in June of 2021. He began his studies at Brigham Young University getting a B.A in Human Biology, then continued with his optometric education at The Ohio State College of Optometry and graduated in 2021.
Dr. Shipton treated a wide range of patients in the Columbus, Ohio area by most recently finishing his rotation at Columbus Ophthalmology Associates. There, he worked very closely with some of the best surgeons in the area treating and managing patients with diseases/conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy, cataracts to name a few.
Dr. Shipton has fit a wide range of specialty contacts including corneal gas permeable lenses, scleral lenses, astigmatic lenses, and soft multifocal lenses. At the specialty contact lens clinic at OSU and at Columbus Ophthalmology Associates, Dr. Shipton has had experience in fitting children in soft and hard lenses to help slow the progression of near-sightedness known as myopia control, a new hot topic in the optometric community.
Dr. Shipton continues to try and give the best optometric care to his patients by staying up to date with the latest technology by being a member of the American Optometric Association and the Idaho Optometric Physicians Association. He also won the 2021 Rick Bay Innovation Scholarship offered to OSU optometry students by continuing to be innovative in the optometric space.
Dr. Shipton and his wife Kelsey are both from Idaho, and together they have two children, Harper and Ezra. With his family, he likes to get outside by going to the park and playing sports. Some of his personal eclectic hobbies include; disc golfing, wood/metal working, podcast listening and exercising.
